Abhishek Gupta

Long distance Marathon runner Abhishek Gupta, age 22 years from Singtam East Sikkim who embarked on a 1545 km of ultimate solo marathon run from Gangtok to New Delhi called on to Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim at Raj Bhavan today in the afternoon. The run was flagged off by Hon’ble Governor, Shiriniwas Patil from Raj Bhavan on 29th December 2017 which flagged in at New Sikkim House at New Delhi on 24th January 2018. He was warmly welcomed by Shri Ashwini K. Chand, Resident Commissioner accompanied by other officers and the staff of New Sikkim House. After returning from New Delhi, he was given rousing reception at Rangpo Tourist Lodge on 30th January 2018 organised by the Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch. Shri Abhishek Gupta carried the message of “Organic Sikkim”, “Swacch Sikkim, Swacch Bharat” and “Fighting Against Child Sexual Abuse”.


Hon’ble Governor congratulated him on successful completion of 1545 km solo marathon from Gangtok to New Delhi. Hon’ble Governor also assured his support for carrying such solo marathon run in near future and advised him to take solo marathon as a career prospect. Hon’ble Governor appealed that youth of Sikkim may take inspiration from Shri Abhishek Gupta to take marathon as career. He wished him all success in his future endeavour. Shri Abhishek Gupta also extended his gratitude and support provided by Hon’ble Governor for making this solo marathon run a success.


The delegation was comprised of members of Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch and Shri Sujit Prasad, Managing Director of Kanss and Co.
