I had the opportunity and pleasure to go through the book titled- Bhakti Yoga  evam Vratavigyan (Devotion, Yoga and fasting Science) by Shri Narayan Phalahariji, the founder Acharya of Sri Gita Yoga Ashram, Singtam, Sikkim, India.

This is a book about Yoga in totality encompassing both the physical discipline as well as the spiritual experience. The author is a practitioner of this art and has tried to live up to its great tradition.

This tradition flows from devotional philosophy and science of the Bhagvad Gita. This has three aspects of Yoga viz; Karma Yoga, Jnâna Yoga and Bhakti Yoga.

Karma yoga enunciates that one can experience salvation (moksha) or love (bhakti) of God by performing one’s duties in an unselfish manner for the pleasure of the Supreme, which is the welfare of the world.

Jnâna yoga consists of properly understanding kshetra (the field of activity--that is, the body) and kshetra-jna (the knower of the body--that is, the soul).

Bhakti Yoga or devotion signifies active involvement in divine worship. It emphasizes devotion and practice above rituals and is represented in terms of human relationships.

There is yearning among human beings of all races and countries for longevity and peace. For in spite of all scientific advancements, human beings continue to suffer. There seems to be disharmony within an individual and with the world outside.

This book seeks to highlight the importance of Yoga in order to help the practitioner of Yoga enjoy physical harmony within himself and also transcendental bliss.

May the book bring benefit to all.
